“Courageous, honest, brilliant cop, an absolute gentleman, a man that would look you in the eye… all words sent to us to describe WA Pol’s First Class Constable Darren Igglesden.” the Blue Hope post read.

“We will probably never know why Darren took his own life but what we are absolutely sure of is the fact that WA, this country and in fact the world is now less one hero.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Darren’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”

A fellow officer who took the photo wrote in the comments, “I remember when I took this photo. You were filthy at me when I took this because I caught your beautiful smile! Love ya mate and will miss you dearly”.

Cockburn Police posted a photo on Tuesday night of the flood of flowers that had arrived at the station since Mr Igglesden’s death.

In other tribute posts elsewhere on Facebook, Mr Igglesden was described as a good copper taken far too early and a good man who would be missed dearly.

Mr Igglesden was the third WA police officer to take his own life on the job in a decade.

Cockburn police station was reopened on Tuesday morning.
