Area safe after gas leak

AN area has been made safe following a gas leak on the roads earlier this morning.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued a warning for hazardous materials after liquid gas has leaked from a tank on Howson Way in Bibra Lake at 8.25am.

The substance was identified as liquid oxygen.

The gas leak has been made safe at 9.23am but motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel.

A DFES spokesperson said there were seven appliances at the scene, from Fremantle, Murdoch and Success.
