Defence Housing Australia unveils Liv Apartments in Fremantle

DEFENCE Housing Australia (DHA) has officially unveiled its first apartment project in WA.

Designed by Hassell and built by Georgiou, the Liv Apartments complex in Fremantle’s east end precinct features 166 apartments and about 1300sq m of retail and commercial space.

The development has One Planet accreditation, with a design including sustainable features such as natural wood fibres, bio-renewable cladding material and energy and water-saving initiatives.

A display by artist Rick Vermey, visible from the Queen Victoria and Quarry Street entrances, was celebrated at the launch. His striking geometric concept was inspired by the port city’s rich history, weather, colours and edginess.

DHA chairman JAL Macdonald told guests Liv’s role was designed to set new standards in modern, high-density living.

A DHA spokesperson said apartments sales to the public had been very encouraging, with Urbis data showing Liv Apartments achieved the highest value in apartment sales in WA’s southern coastal corridor for the first quarter of 2018.

Homes for sale include one-bedroom, one-bathroom designs ($400,000-$435,000), two-bedroom, one-bathroom plans ($495,000-$545,000), two-bedroom, two-bathroom configurations ($570,000 – $895,000) and three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments ($995,000-$1.235 million).
