A COCKBURN Little Athletics Centre (CLAC) life member has featured on new banners promoting the “Go for two fruit and five veg” message at the WA Athletics Stadium.

Coral McCooey, the founding president of the CLAC seniors three years ago, was asked to feature as an official who works or volunteers for both Little Athletics WA and Athletics WA.

“Initially I was surprised, then pleased, then checked with my children,” she said.

“Is there any reason I shouldn’t be on it? They said ‘no’.”

Ms McCooey, a level three advanced sprints, hurdles and relay coach and a level two state and national official for field events, began volunteering when her children took up athletics 15 years ago.

“I enjoyed helping and wanted to take it further,” she said.

“I volunteered for everything and built up my skills.”
