MORE than 40 people have taken up the offer to try a new sport during sessions at Cockburn ARC.

The Cockburn Water Polo Club, which timed its launch to coincide with the opening of the ARC, got underway with great numbers attending two free sessions.

Club president Natalie Turner said it was a wonderful turnout.

“We managed to play matches both days and introduced a new game to the people of Cockburn,” she said.

“There was a mix of younger and older people and we hope to nurture everyone who turns up, whether they have played before or not.

“There is even talk of Cockburn entering some senior teams in the Perth competition this summer while our main aim is to start a junior competition at Cockburn ARC for both boys and girls.”
