In a match that had everything, the Dockers jumped the reigning premiers early and survived falling behind in the third term, before powering to an impressive 13.11 (89) to 10.13 (73) victory.

Exciting small forward Michael Walters booted three goals, while Hayden Crozier, David Mundy, Cam McCarthy and Shane Kersten booted two each.

Classy left-footer Stephen Hill was damaging with his 33 disposals, while captain Nat Fyfe also gathered 33 in the win.

After making six changes to the side that lost the opening two matches of the season, Ross Lyon was understandably pleased.

“We just kept it pretty simple,” he said.

“I always believe in my player group.
