Medal haul for South Lake Dolphins at state competition

THE South Lake Dolphins (SLD) lived up to their name at the recent Swimming WA Junior Long Course Championships, dominating in the pool to finish with 19 medals.

Seventeen young SLD swimmers competed in more than 80 races between them over the three-day event, coming away with a respectable haul of nine gold, five silver and five bronze medals.

Brother-sister pair Adrian and Annabelle Frederic scooped six medals each, Adrian with three gold, two silver and a bronze while Annabelle finished with four gold, one silver and a bronze.

Teammates Owen Hewitt (silver medal), Kaci Curtis (bronze) and Alex Sillitoe (two bronze) also brought home medals.

The Dolphins’ relay teams also shined, winning gold in the mixed 9/10 year old 4x50m freestyle relay as well as the mixed 9/10 year old 4x50m medley relay.

They also won silver in the 11/12 year old boys 4x50m freestyle relay.

Kaci Curtis, Annabelle Frederic, Rhys Millington and Rhiley Olbromski won gold in the mixed 9/10 year old 4×50 medley relay.

SLD head coach Dorian Gandin said it was a weekend of outstanding and courageous swimming from the young squad.

“SLD has golden hours to come in the next years, we have a new generation of warriors in construction,” he said.

“I am so proud to be head coach at South Lake Dolphins, hard training paid off.”

The South Lake Dolphins are based out of Cockburn ARC.
