In a statement the Cockburn Basketball Association (CBA) said Matt Parsons would not coach the side in 2017.
“The CBA is currently working to create sustained success in all facets of our association, including our SBL program,” the statement read. “It is through discussions around this that Matt has shared with the CBA board that as much as he loves the club, it is time for him to move on as we have different directions for success in the short term future.
“As much as this is not an outcome we want, we respect Matt’s decision.” Parsons had coached the Cougars for the past two seasons and was named SBL Men’s Coach of the Year in both of those years.
