Soccer program for overweight men arrives in Cockburn

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

BRING soccer and 70 motivated overweight men together and you have a new program aiming to shed the kilos through fun and fitness.

The City of Cockburn will be the first Australian council to host the MAN v FAT program, which combines regular sport with achievable changes to diet and lifestyle.

The soccer-based program, which sees each team’s on-field score boosted by extra points earned from weight loss, helped 87 men lose a combined 600kg during the University of WA’s pilot season last year.
