CAITLIN Whincup is smashing goals as she pursues her dreams of becoming a volleyball star, one competition at a time.
The 14-year-old Success resident is no stranger to performing on the big stage, having already played in two Australian junior volleyball championships and two Australian junior beach volleyball championships.
In August she’ll suit up for WA yet again after she was selected to play in the School Sports Australia 15 and under Girls Volleyball Championship.
Caitlin, who plays for Rossmoyne Volleyball Club, said she has been playing for just three years but loved how many opportunities she was getting to compete at higher level.
“This is a national tournament that I haven’t experienced before and I’ve heard that this is a great tournament to play in,” she said.
“Most of the team played in the U15 Australian junior champs last year where we received a silver medal and with the new girls that have been added to the team, I am hoping we can go one better and win the gold.
“There are always new skills and team strategies to be learnt and I am hoping this tournament will help me to improve my volleyball game.”
The School Sports Australia 15 and under Girls Volleyball Championship will be in Adelaide from August 17 to 23.
