IN the sport of trampolining, it is almost impossible not to aim high.

Treeby resident Mackenzie Jones has jumped on that notion, setting her sights on wearing the green and gold at October’s Trans-Tasman Challenge across the pond.

“My long term ambitions are hopefully getting selected to represent Australia at the next competition in New Zealand, then one day the World Championships,” she said. “Then who knows, maybe the Olympics in 2024.”

The 13-year-old has had an incredibly busy and successful year.

At the March State Championships she finished third on the trampoline and was named under-15 state champion for the double mini apparatus.

She travelled with the State squad to the Australian Gymnastics Championships in June, winning bronze on the trampoline and silver in the double mini.

“I have just come back from Hobart were I was invited to go to a Team Future Camp,” she said.

“This was a great experience for me, learning from different coaches and meeting other trampolinists from all over Australia.”
