Perth’s best dog-friendy cafes: where your pet will be treated as well as you

AS Perth’s cafe scene has been burgeoning, many dogs have found themselves left home alone, or worse – confined to interminable stints in the backyard.

But that need not be the case, with a host of eateries recognising that dog owners will go the extra mile – as long as their pets are made to feel welcome too.

Here are the places we think look after pooches best.

13. Dome Cafe

Dome Cafes really make an effort to look after our four-legged friends, and we must give a shout out to the ones in Mandurah and Halls Head, who both put out a big bowl of water for your pet.

12. Union Kitchen – 33 Ocean Falls Boulevard, Mindarie

You have to love a cafe that has its own dog menu, featuring ‘mutt-shakes’ and ‘puppy-cinos’ – and the staff at Union Kitchen are all canine lovers, which makes for a lovely experience.

11. Spill the Beans – 141 Boardwalk Boulevard, Halls Head

Spill the Beans in Halls Head.

With a large outdoor area and plenty of umbrella coverage, Spill the Beans is a great spot for relaxing with your dog.

10. 2 Cafe – 2 Montrose Avenue, Darlington

2 Cafe in Darlington.

Nestled in a beautiful corner of the hills, 2 Cafe really rolls out the red carpet for your dog. The food – for either human or canine consumption – is always well received, and the location is as soothing as it gets.

9. The Little Banksia – 78 Banksia Terrace, Kensington

The Little Banksia in Kensington.

With a beautiful outdoor courtyard and a terrific menu to boot, The Little Banksia is a wonderful place to relax with your pooch and soak up some late autumn sun.

8. Cafe Isthmus – 9 McCabe Street, North Fremantle

Tremendous views of Leighton Beach are one highlight, but the obvious regard they hold your dog in is another. With a treat on arrival, and more available at the counter, your dog can dine in the outside area or have a nap.

A wonderfully rambling cafe in Maylands, Steam Haus goes the extra mile to make pets feel welcome. Check out the outdoor section at the back, just the spot for some caffeine with your fur baby.

5. The Leaky Tap – 43 Victoria Street, Mosman Park

Does your dog drink out the toilet? Well, they’ll be able to at The Leaky Tap, a wonderful cafe inspired by local plumber and father Craig Vivian. Your dog will able to sample a delicious puppy-cino, from one of their toilet-shaped individual bowls. Their breakfast menu? Absolutely delicious.

4. Voyage Kitchen – 128 West Coast Drive, Sorrento

Voyage Kitchen in Sorrento.

Sensational food, but what makes Voyage so dog friendly is that they give priority to pet owners to take up the outdoor seats and prefer to sit poochless owners inside the cafe. Get there by 9.30am to be guaranteed a spot with your four-legged mate.

3. Boo Espresso – 49 Stuart Street, Perth

Furbaby’s dream was to create a cafe for all pet lovers, and they’ve succeeded in doing just that. But Furbaby is more than just a cafe – it’s also a boutique outlet for both dogs and cats, and you’ll be able to pick up all manner of treats and accessories for your very own fur baby.
