The group’s mother and manager Julia said the trio started performing together when they lived in Port Hedland and the group blossomed from there.

“There’s a lot of community events up there and the kids noticed there was no entertainment and so they got together and sang,” she said.

“Before you knew it, the mayor kept calling them up and so that’s how it started with the 3Gs.”

Maria leads a musical life, having been involved in various local musical productions and is currently waiting to find out if she has landed a spot in the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ prestigious music theatre course.

She said she loved performing on stage for any audience and now school was over, was hoping to secure as many gigs as possible.

“We like to do community stuff, we sing at the retirement homes, we try and get in there as much as we can,” she said.

“We try to do every Sunday busking at the Gosnells markets, we do get some gigs almost every month.”

The trio have two upcoming Christmas charity shows for Gawad Kalinga and the Filipino Community Council of Western Australia on December 9 at Perth Macedonian Club and December 17 at The Civic Hotel.
