Ben SmithComment News

A JOINT Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) has approved the $6.14 million construction of 42 multiple dwellings on Albany Highway in Beckenham.

The development will feature four different apartment types across three separate two storey-buildings located within the Primewest shopping precinct.

The residential buildings will be located within 800m of Beckenham Station and 750m of Carousel Shopping Centre.

Vehicle access to the 5076sq m site will be provided from Arthur Street and the dwellings will have access to communal open space, including barbecues and gazebos.

The development site adjoins the City of Canning border and is currently occupied by an existing office building.

It is located in close proximity to retail shops such as JB Hi-Fi, Dan Murphys and BCF.

The planning application noted the existing retail stores, showrooms and offices in the immediate vicinity should not impede any residential development.

The JDAP unanimously approved the application, but amended the application to ensure the applicant contributed $10,000 towards constructing a dual use path from Arthur Street to Albany Highway.
