Amaroo Buckley Caring Centre residents seal memories in time capsule

Ben SmithComment News

AMAROO Buckley Caring Centre residents have sealed a piece of their history in the facility’s grounds after burying a time capsule.

The capsule was organised two years ago by the centre’s resident forum committee and will be reopened exactly 25 years to the day it was buried: July 15, 2043.

The committee wanted to preserve the centre’s history and decided on a time capsule given the facility’s current refurbishments and building extensions.

Its contents include memorabilia, old photos, craft, newspapers and a USB stick with life stories of residents.

Committee member Kathleen McNeil praised the hard work of staff and residents for making the project a reality.

“Thanks to all the residents, staff and volunteers, the time capsule has happened and in the ensuing 25 years, it will be a legacy to the residents that lived here,” she said.
