POLICE have charged a 42-year-old Armadale woman after she allegedly assaulted a boy with cerebral palsy in her care.

Police say the woman is a relative of the 17-year-old boy and is his full-time carer.

The boy has cerebral palsy, and as a result is physically incapacitated and is also unable to speak.

He uses a computer to communicate with others.

It will be alleged the boy has been subject to verbal and physical abuse.

His physical needs were also neglected, and on occasions he was denied food and water.

These incidents were allegedly filmed by the boy via a camera on his wheelchair.

The woman has been charged with act or omission causing bodily harm and will appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court on April 20.
