ARMADALE wordsmiths were recently treated to a visit from a multi-award winning author.

Children’s author Norman Jorgensen has published 12 titles for young people, and he paid a visit to the Inklings Writers Workshop at Armadale Library.

Inklings organiser Gemma Sidney said one of the workshop’s members had been talking to Jorgensen at another function and he was eager to visit the group.

“He spoke of the trials and tribulations of being a writer, bookshop owner and publisher, and gave great advice on honing our skills,” she said.

“Norman mentioned during the session that when he was growing up, all the kids’ stories were set in England and other far away places. It’s what inspired him to set his stories right here in WA.”

Inklings has been running at Armadale Library since March, with all invited to come and share work and hone their skills.

Sessions are $5 per person and take place every second Thursday evening.
