A HANDMADE model of their school has won Pioneer Village Primary School a $5000 art prize.

A group of 18 Pioneer Village students aged between five and eight put their artistic skills to the test to create the accurate model, which won them first place in the national Bostik Smart Schools Program.

Pioneer Village principal Louise Lont said the students had enjoyed developing a realistic scaled replica of the school, complete with miniature students and students.

“Pioneer Village School students were highly engaged in this collaborative STEAM learning project,” she said.

Having won the competition, she said they were moving on to the next phase of the project.

“Now that Bostik has enabled the group to create the model, KodeKLIX technology will be used to light up the rooms, and to move the people up and down the street,” she said.

Pioneer Village was the only WA school on the winners list.
