THE next generation of little gardeners got hands on with the environment for National Tree Day at Rushton Park.
Students from Australian Christian College planted native seedlings along the edge of the river to give back to nature.
Principal Jacqui Burrage said the event was a fantastic experience for the 35 pre-primary to Year Six students involved.
“They loved the hands on way they could all take part. As the young ones were digging with the trowels, they became fascinated with the worms. They were delighted and kept a count of how many they had found,” Mrs Burrage said.
“They all felt a sense of achievement at having played their part in helping the local environment.”
