Baby boom keeping maternity staff busy

Thirty babies were safely delivered in one weekend alone in July, with a total of 235 born at the hospital that month.

July 21 was the busiest day with the most babies ever born at the hospital, with 16 welcomed into the world.

To cope, the hospital had to put staff on extra shifts.

AKMH director of obstetrics and gynaecology Liza Fowler praised the maternity team for their efforts in going above and beyond to support each other throughout the busy month.

Kirah Leigh, born on July 31 to Emily and Ian Moylan, of Gosnells, was part of the recent baby boom.
