BECKENHAM’S Mills Park redevelopment has been rewarded for demonstrating ‘World Leadership’ in sustainable construction.

The City of Gosnells-helmed redevelopment was awarded an Australian-first 6 star Public Building as Built certified project.

The City had previously received a 6 Star Green Star rating for the design-work of Mills Park redevelopment.

This new award recognises the facility as one of Australia’s most energy efficient.

City of Gosnells Mayor Olwen Searle said the result was pleasing for everyone who worked on the project.

“The project targeted 76 weighted points and the City achieved 76 points on its first round submission, an outstanding effort by everyone involved,” she said.

“What’s most pleasing is that our residents now have a beautiful and truly sustainable community facility.”

The 24ha Mills Park opened almost a year ago.
