Bedfordale Bush Market is booming

THE Bedfordale Bush Market is booming.

It’s almost two years since the Bedfordale Connect neighbourhood group organised their first market and their September instalment is set to feature 75 stalls.

Numbers have taken off after their car show drew 2000 people to the Bedfordale Hall.

“We noticed at the last market, people were parking on the road again, so we have to have someone directing the parking. We’ve noticed a big difference,” Bedfordale Connect chairwoman Liz Rutherford said.

“The more stallholders we get, the more they bring their family and friends and clientele. We also theme each market – last month we had writing and photography, this month we have health and wellbeing.

“We get people coming along to look at the different kinds of stalls we’re getting.”

Katherine Jolley said it had been inspiring to see the community come together and meet each other at the markets and bring visitors to the town.

“No one really knew where Bedfordale was. We offer free kids activities and workshops every market, so they don’t necessarily have to come out and spend money, they can come and enjoy the area,” she said. With numerous stalls, fresh food vendors, and a long table for Devonshire tea, Mrs Rutherford said the Bush Market had become a great day out for all ages.

“Our aim was a spirit of nurturing ourselves, the community and the environment. And I think it definitely promotes that,” she said.

The next Bedfordale Bush Market is health and wellbeing themed and takes place on |Saturday, September 23, from 8am to 1pm at Bedfordale Hall on Admiral Road.
