FIREFIGHTERS have responded to two simultaneous blazes within close proximity to each other in Mundijong.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) were called out to two fires burning near the South Western Highway and Watkins Road at 2.39pm.

The blazes are both about 10 by 20 metres in size and about 60 metres apart.

A DFES spokeswoman said there were seven local bushfire brigades on the scene who were currently mopping up the area and bringing the fire under control.

She said they had been in contact with police about road closures, but there were none in place at this stage.
