Byford incident: police set up forward command vehicle in town today as part of investigation

SEX assault squad detectives have set up a forward command vehicle in Byford today to seek information about a burglary and indecent assault on Monday, 14 March .

About midday, a 46-year-old woman was confronted by a man who had gained entry to her Byford home and was armed with a small knife.

He threatened the woman before forcing her into another room where he indecently assaulted her before fleeing from the home.

The man is described as being aged between 20 to 25 years with fair skin, approximately 183cm tall, of slight build, with short blond hair with a long fringe.

He was wearing a red and blue horizontal striped short-sleeved shirt with a collar, blue denim jeans and a black belt that had a gold coloured square open buckle.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Warrington Road, Mead Street and Gordin Way in Byford around the time of the incident who may have seen the man.

The vehicle will be located at the Byford Centre carpark, corner of South West Highway and Abernathy Road, Byford until 2pm this afternoon.

Detectives will be speaking to businesses and members of the community in an effort to obtain information on this incident.
