Jaime ShurmerComment News

EDUCATION Minister Peter Collier viewed the progress of Byford Primary School, which is among the first in WA to be built under a Public Private Partnership.

Construction is set to finish well ahead of the 2017 opening.

“The new school will be a huge boost to the community and will complement West Byford Primary School, which has grown rapidly since opening in 2013,” Mr Collier said.

“It will be equipped with the most up-to-date learning technology and permanent facilities for 430 students in Kindergarten to Year 6.

“One of the benefits of a Public Private Partnership is that principals and school staff do not have to manage or maintain school facilities, so they can focus more on students.”

EduWest – comprised of Macquarie Capital Group Limited, Badge Constructions (WA) Pty Ltd, Perkins (WA) Pty Ltd, and Spotless Facility Services Pty Ltd – is financing, designing and building the school and will maintain it for up to 31 years.

Other PPS primary schools are being built in Landsdale, Baldivis and Alkimos, along with high schools in Ellenbrook North, Lakelands, Hammond Park and Harrisdale.
