Campaign success for ID card

Staff ReporterComment News

The new WA Photo Card will replace the Proof of Age Card as a superior form of photo identification.

The Comment News reported last October on a campaign by Gosnells woman Tricia Best, who has no passport or driver’s licence, as she suffers epilepsy.

Ms Best struggled for years to prove her identity for basic tasks such as opening bank accounts, as most organisations did not accept her Proof of Age Card.

In 2009, after contacting disability organisations, she discovered many other people had the same problem, and that other states had replaced proof of age cards with identity cards.
