A CANNING Vale artist is throwing open the doors to her studio and garden in the hope it can inspire others and raise a few dollars for an organisation close to her heart.

Jude Scott is a self-confessed “passionate advocate” for arts in the community and on top of regular classes teaching watercolour and drawings she has decided to open up her studio and garden for an entire weekend, allowing visitors to enjoy a wander through the grounds and ask questions about the artwork or the surroundings.

Scott said there were a lot of similarities between painting and gardening.

“You get started and the time just flies, it is so relaxing and rewarding seeing the paintings progress and plants thrive and bloom,” she said.

“The garden is so special to me as my husband and I only had one orange tree when we moved to the property and now it is a jungle of native plants, waterwise and tropical plants.

“I decided to have an open garden and studio as to my mind both complement each other so beautifully and I find that most people always appreciate looking at beautiful surroundings and artworks.”

She said proceeds from the gold coin entry would be donated to Fremantle Rotary.

“They are such a marvellous group of inspiring volunteers who work tirelessly for no personal gain and I would be very proud to have our garden and my art raise funds for such a great organisation,” she said.

Scott’s open studio and garden will be on from 10am to 4pm November 25 and 26 at 6 Spata Lane, Canning Vale.
