Two police officers hurt in Tonkin Highway crash

TWO police officers were hurt in a serious traffic crash in Maddington this afternoon.

About 12.20pm two police officers were responding to a serious crash in Welshpool.

The officers were driving under emergency conditions in a marked police car.

At the intersection of Kelvin Road and Tonkin Highway the police vehicle entered the intersection and hit a Subaru.

The force of the impact caused the police car to spin and strike two other cars that were stopped at the traffic lights.

The two police officers were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries.

The driver of the Subaru was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.

The driver of the Subaru, and the drivers of the other two vehicles, did not receive any serious injuries.
