GOSNELLS Golf Club helped one if its longest-serving members celebrate a historic milestone recently.
Dorothy Elliot, a member of the club for almost 56 years, enjoyed her 100th birthday luncheon there on March 22.
She joined the club in 1961, when the club was based in Maddington and served as a business associate for 25 years and treasurer for five years.

Ms Elliot said was convinced to take up golf by a friend when living out in the Goldfields in 1951.
“I laughed at it, because at the time I was a keen hockey player,” she said.
At one stage, she was asked to represent the club in a prestigious pennants competition.
As the club did not have any bunkers at the time, she promptly dug one in her backyard and hit over fences to practise for the competition.
She said she stayed on at the club for so long because of the social aspect.
“All of them (members) were very friendly people.”
