Forrestdale skate park completed

WILLIAM Skeet Oval Skate Park in Forrestdale has been completed ahead of schedule.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said the City had been working on redeveloping the park since 2013.

“Following community consultation with local young people and residents, the City’s staff met award-winning skate park designers Trinity Skate Parks to design and replace the existing equipment,” he said.

Stage one was completed in 2013. It included the removal of the tennis court and chain mesh fencing panels and completion of the X-Series Modular Skate Park.

Stage two included landscaping, installation of a half-pipe ramp and upgrades to the basketball shooting area.

Mr Zelones said the skate park would now provide young people with a space for social interaction and activity.

The recently installed X-Series half-pipe will appeal to BMX, skateboarders and scooter riders while providing a training ground for both amateur and intermediate riders.

The William Skeet Oval Skate Park redevelopment work cost $150,000.

It was funded by the City of Armadale and the developer contribution scheme.
