Sarah WatersComment News

The City of Armadale has launched a new series of Music in the Mall, which will take place every Friday until December 18.

The music series provides a platform for local artists to showcase their music during the popular lunchtime concerts.

This Friday, November 13, the Two Cent Professionals will perform from 11am.

Lead singer Ziggy Atwell said residents could expect lively jazz, jump, blues and swing.

“We will be playing with the full nine to 12-piece band with the sax, drums, trumpets … it will be a good hour of music,” he said.

“Dancers from the Perth Swing Dance Academy will also be joining us.”

Atwell, an Armadale resident, said it was important to support community events.

“I’ve seen Armadale change a lot; there’s a lot more development and it’s become more of a higher socio-economic area,” he said. “Events like Music in Mall help contribute to that and I’m quite proud to be a part of it.”

The Two Cent Professionals will be followed by the Katherine John Trio, which will perform their smooth blend of jazzy pop.

Other talented artists are set to perform over the next two months, including the Classic Sounds Orchestra Quartet, Cathie Travers Trio, Gerard Maunick and Reno James.

Music in the Mall will run each Friday from 12-2pm at Jull St Mall. Visit the Armadale website or call 9394 5642.
