Clubs celebrate installation of new fence at Piara Waters Oval

Jessica NicoComment News

A NEW fence has been installed around Piara Waters Oval, making the ground safer for sports players and recreational users alike.

City of Armadale mayor Henry Zelones, Burt MHR Matt Keogh and Jandakot MLA Yak Mubarakai met with representatives from the Piara Waters Cricket Club, the Piara Waters Junior Football Club and Piara Waters Senior Football Club this month to celebrate the project’s completion.

Mr Zelones said the fence had been a joint venture between all three forms of government.

“The cost of the much needed fence was covered by a $20,000 grant from each of the Local Members,” he said.

“I would like to thank Matt Keogh for his $20,000 grant to the City and Yaz Mubarakai for the $20,000 which was presented to the Piara Waters Junior Football Club last year.

“The fence has been completed to the City’s high standard and will provide a safety barrier to stop errant ground balls exiting the oval onto the road and to provide a barrier for unintended vehicles accessing the oval.”
