In a first for WA, VenuesWest has signed a license agreement with Jetpack Adventures to open a Jetpack Flight Centre at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre.

From early November, the Australian company will offer water powered jetpack training to thrillseekers.

The Jetpack is an innovative water-propelled system, inspired by James Bond, that launches people 10 metres high while water is pumped from a jetski-like device up a large hose to the jetpack unit.

All jetpacks have a safety lanyard stop/start mechanism similar to a jetski, allowing full control.

Jetpacks Adventures chief executive Peter Vail was thankful VenuesWest had supported the new Jetpack Flight Centre.

‘The Jetpack Flight Centre will employ a team of 10 to 12 local people, on a casual basis through the summer season,’ he said.

‘It is modelled on the success of our Flagship Jetpack School at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.’

VenuesWest chairman Graham Partridge said a Jetpack Flight Centre was an exciting new addition to the sporting facilities at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre.

‘We are very excited to welcome this unique attraction to our world class venue and to the local community,’ he said.

‘This is a great way to get the adrenaline pumping while staying healthy and active.’

Champion Lakes Regatta Centre includes a 55 hectare lake, 2000 metre international standard rowing course, warm-up lake, boat shed storage area and clubhouse.
