DARLING Range MLA Barry Urban has resigned from the Labor Party but will stay on in his electorate.

He plans to make a full statement on the matter in Parliament tomorrow.

A statement was posted on the Barry Urban MLA Facebook page.

Mr Urban advised the Speaker of his resignation as a member of the Public Accounts Committee and the Joint Standing Committee of Audit.

Mr Urban has been absent from Parliament for the past couple of weeks amid questions raised about the origin of the military medals he wore, and questions over the validity of his university qualifications.
