Elderly Oakford pair left battered after being attacked by intruder on their property

POLICE are investigating after two elderly people were assaulted at a property in Oakford on Sunday morning.

Around 8.30am yesterday, a 71 year-old male discovered another man who had entered the property.

The intruder punched the man in the head and face several times, knocking him to the ground, before he punched a 64 year-old woman in the head as she attempted to intervene.

He attacked the man again and pushed the woman into a garden bed before fleeing the scene in a black Ford utility.

The male victim received serious head and facial injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for emergency treatment, while the woman was left bruised and sore.

Detectives have asked Oakford and Byford residents to check their CCTV and report any vision of the black Ford utility to them.

They have also asked anyone driving in the Oakford and Byford areas yesterday morning to check their dash cameras for any vision of the car.
