The Dale Cottages retirement village resident lives independently and has only just begun using a gopher to help her go food shopping.
She goes to church every Sunday, bingo on Mondays, bowls twice a week and cards on Fridays.
‘There aren’t many days she spends in,’ said her friend of 20 years, Rose McEniry.
Mrs Powell and her friends will celebrate today with tea and cake, a ritual they have made sure to observe every year since the 100-year mark.
