Camillo couple want Armadale Council to demolish house destroyed by fire

Allan and Anne Gordon lived next to volatile and threatening neighbours for three years.

The couple always feared the house next door would go up in flames due to illicit drug activities and would often report their concerns to police.

On May 19 this year, their predictions came true.

Mr and Mrs Gordon were asleep but were woken at midnight by a huge explosion, which shook their house.

Mr Gordon instantly knew what had happened.

He ran outside and witnessed the house and the couple who lived in it on fire.

The 33-year-old man later died from his injuries whilehis 49-year-old wife survived serious injuries.

Six months on, the abandoned house, which is roofless, burnt out and in a general state of disarray, has still not been demolished.

Mrs Gordon said she saw school children looting from it not long after the incident and it was now attracting mice and rats and leaving a horrid stench.

‘We’re fed up with the council (City of Armadale) for not bulldozing it,’ she said.
