Family of six escapes Oakford house fire overnight

A FAMILY of six were lucky to escape a house fire in Oakford overnight that required 25 fire fighters to extinguish.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire started about 10am at the King Road house.

A group of 25 career and volunteer fire fighters battled the blaze, which was brought under control at midnight.

Two adults and two children got out of the house in time.

The fire caused about $200,000 worth of damage to the house.

Fire fighters finished up on the scene at 4.30am, but fire investigation officers will head to the house today to look into the cause of the blaze.
