Andrew Hastie has only held the seat for a short time after he won a by-election in September last year after Don Randall passed away on July 21.

Mr Hastie ran successfully against Matt Keogh in that election; Mr Keogh is now the Labor Candidate for Burt.

Mr Winmar, a former police officer, said he was keen to have a real impact at the local level.

“I know that access to a proper education gives young people the opportunity to rise above their circumstances and reach their potential,” he said.

“Working in Canning as Fairbridge Bindjareb project manager I know what this community needs from a federal government.”
