A FAMILY of six fled for their lives when a fire broke out in their home on Huxley Court in Camillo this morning.
The fire started at 4am and caused almost $300,000 worth of damage.
No one was seriously injured in the blaze, but dramatic reports of a teenage girl smashing a bedroom window to save her younger brother have emerged.
The family – two adults and four children – were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services had to work hard to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading to neighbouring houses as flames shot out of the windows and engulfed the back of the house.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Firefighters and police are still trying to determine the cause.
