Roleystone bushfire alert downgraded

THE bushfire alert for the north-eastern part of Roleystone has been downgraded.

A watch and act alert was issued for people in or around Chevin Road, Peet Road, Raeburn Road, Brookton Highway and surrounding area.

The fire started near the intersection of Gwynne Place and Chevin Road and was reported at 01.21pm yesterday.

The bushfire is now contained and under control.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.

Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.

Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.

Read through your bushfire survival plan.

If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
