Hasluck MHR Ken Wyatt MP said the program helped schools at risk of harassment or violence stemming from racial or religious intolerance.
Schools can use the funding to employ security guards as well as to install security infrastructure such as CCTV, lighting and fencing.
‘All of our children have the right to be educated in a safe and secure setting,’ Mr Wyatt said.
The 54 successful schools included 11 public schools, 17 Jewish schools, 15 Islamic schools and 11 independent schools.

The schools were selected on merit after an assessment of their applications against the criteria.
