Good are rewarded

Twenty motorists travelling through the South East Metropolitan District were charged, which is six fewer than the number charged over the Easter long weekend.

Police stopped 1551 motorists for a breath test and issued 71 traffic infringements, with 48 for speeding offences.

Police impounded 10 vehicles.

Sgt Woollons said despite the number of infringements issued over the long weekend, motorists who heeded the road safety message were rewarded.

‘The Gosnells and Armadale Roadwise committee members in conjunction with the South East Metropolitan Traffic office conducted an RBT event on the Friday, May 31,’ he said.

‘All drivers who were negative were given the option to enter a draw for a prize and lollipops with the message ‘Losing Your Licence Sucks’ were distributed.’

There were no significant or fatal crashes reported in the district.
