Google Maps pranksters turn Armadale into ‘Armahole’

Sophie MooreComment News

THE CITY of Armadale has changed its name to the City of ‘Armahole’, at least according to Google Maps.

The popular web mapping and navigation service displayed the new moniker for several hours on January 2.

Some clever clogs successfully passed their suggested edits by Google Maps’ moderators and altered the names of several landmarks including Armadale Police Station, which became the quaintly named Armadale Police Bed and Breakfast.

The local government Council house was renamed the City of Armadardy.

Unfortunately, changes to landmarks and businesses have been increasingly vulgar as news of the prank spread.

A spokeswoman for Google said some incorrect names were appearing on Google Maps earlier on January 3, but this was now resolved.

Google Maps users can let them know when something is incorrect by using their ‘Report a Problem’ tool found at the bottom right corner of their Map.
