KEITH Angwin and Kathleen McNeill are proof that you are never too old to fall in love.
The Buckley Caring Centre Gosnells residents, who are both in their eighties, met five years ago and soon developed a strong bond.
Recently, Mr Angwin asked Ms McNeill to marry him. She said yes.
Ms McNeill said the proposal had come out of the blue in the middle of what had been a regular discussion.
“It took me by surprise, it was really lovely,” she said.
“He’s a really lovely man; he has a wonderful sense of humour and he’s a very brave man taking me on.”
The Buckley Caring Centre celebrated the couple with a special engagement party on August 16.
Ms McNeill said they had been touched by the responses from both of their families, as well as their Buckley family.
“(Buckley) had a beautiful cake, a most beautiful bouquet of flowers and champagne to celebrate,” she said.
“We got a magnificent card that the staff had put together, it was quite mind boggling the size of it, it was like a book.
“Both of our families approve of this so that’s good, we’ve very happy.”
