Gosnells Croquet Club delighted with new artworks from Southern River College students

GOSNELLS Croquet Club say they are delighted with new artworks created specifically for them by Southern River College art students.

The club approached the school six months ago to design some croquet-themed art to brighten up their home on Wheatley Street.

Club president Maggie Cussell said they were ecstatic with the results.

“We’re over the moon with each and every one of those paintings,” she said.

“We didn’t expect such a high standard and we thanks the students a thousand times over for their contribution.”

Southern River College art teacher Gayle Page said she challenged the students to find the most exciting thing about croquet and let their imaginations run wild.

“Some of the paintings are very three dimensional in the way they look, others are much flatter, then we have the two cartoon ones,” she said.

“They learned a lot of techniques as they went a long and it’s a different scale to what they’re used to working with in the classroom.”

Mrs Page said the croquet club had already approached them to create more artworks.
