Ex-Docker Shane Yarran charged after leading police on short chase through Gosnells

POLICE have charged ex-Fremantle Dockers player Shane Yarran after he allegedly failed to stop in Gosnells this morning.

Officers were conducting patrols in the Gosnells area around 12.10am when they sighted a Hyundai hatch driving fast on Muriel Street.

It was alleged Yarran failed to stop for police and they pursued him through various streets in Gosnells.

He abandoned the vehicle on Fremantle Road and fled on foot.

Police dog Nacho located the man lying in bushes in the front yard of home on Eynesford Street.

Yarran was charged with breach of bail, no authority to drive and failing to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation).

He was also charged with two counts of reckless driving for causing danger to the public and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h.

He has been remanded in custody until June 7.

The vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.

Yarran retired from the AFL last year to deal with off-field issues.
