Gosnells Lion Club to take annual Christmas float on the road

Ben SmithComment News

THE Gosnells Lions Club has announced a fresh change ahead of its much-loved annual Christmas float.

In previous years, the float has travelled around the City of Gosnells, bringing good tidings directly to residents’ homes.

However, this year the Lions will be heading to several of the City’s best parks for two weeks in December, spreading joy in a different park each night between 6:30pm and 7:45pm.

Lions Club member Brian Beech said the float was one of the highlights of the year and encouraged people to visit them.

“We’re parking up in different parks, playing Christmas music, giving the kids presents, they get to have a play, get lollies and see Santa, we sell Christmas cakes and it’s all done to spread Christmas cheer,” he said.

“Normally, we do very well, but we’re doing it differently, so hopefully we can get some big crowds.”

Southern River MLA Terry Healy will don the Santa Clause suit for a shift for the sixth year running, while Thornlie MLA Chris Tallentire and Member for South Metro Pierre Yang will also make appearances.
