A GOSNELLS resident is set to receive a commendation for an outstanding act of bravery where he saved a child from a house on fire.

Wayne Skane will receive a bravery award as part of the 2016 Royal Life Saving Bravery Awards.

Upon smelling smoke outside his house one afternoon, Mr Skane discovered that the next-door neighbour’s child had lit a fire in the backyard.

He jumped the fence and called for his partner to get the hose so he could put out the fire.

Ensuring the child was moved away and safe, he quickly put out the blaze.

He was one of 20 heroic individuals who were chosen to be honoured.

The Royal Life Saving Society of Western Australian accepts nominations for the Bravery Awards throughout the year, to identify and reward people in our community who have taken extraordinary actions to save another person’s life.
