PMA owns and manages the 51ha Market City in Canning Vale, which is critical to fresh produce marketing and distribution in WA.

Dr Nahan made the remarks as part of budget announcements last Thursday.

‘The sale of assets that the State does not need to own is a key measure in regaining our triple-A credit rating and paying down debt,’ he said.

Other sales being considered include Health Department sites at Princess Margaret Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Shenton Park Rehabilitation Centre and Swan District Hospital.

The Government will also consider selling Kwinana Bulk Terminal, the Utah Point facility at Port Hedland Port, the TAB, some Water Corporation assets such as wastewater plants, and individual electricity generation assets, such as Muja.

Dr Nahan said measures in the Budget would deliver about $2 billion in lower net debt by 2017-18.
